History

The hunting lodge was built in 1620 by the Earl of Mämmingen, it has changed proprietors several times over the last centuries and is owned by the Ortner family since 1954.

The hotel has been renovated from time to time, without changing the outer facade. The original style has been preserved over the years and the 20 rooms and suites are decorated with antique furniture and wood panelling. Within the framework of the most recent renovation in 2008, Castel Fragsburg has acquired much higher comfort and luxury.

Today the hotel is managed by proprietor Alexander Ortner, as a member of Relais & Châteaux the Castle Fragsburg follows the philosophy 'a unique home for a unique stay' and is part of the 'collection of world’s finest restaurants and hotels'.
